The Federal Government has called for stronger sanctions against wildlife crime as part of efforts to protect endangered species in Nigeria, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported.
According to the report, the government also called for closer collaboration among those involved in wildlife conservation. Protected areas and conflict between people and wildlife were among the issues raised.
Wildlife crime includes poaching and the illegal trade in protected species. The call adds to a wider discussion about how Nigerian law is enforced in and around protected areas.
